Community is everything when it comes to theatre: that's who supports us as audience members, with financial contributions, and with other resources.
We're happy to say Pittsburg is a community that recognizes the importance of the performing arts.
Businesses offer sponsorships which makes it possible for us to produce the highest caliber of shows. The media provides coverage of productions. The parent support group, Friends of PHS Performing Arts, handles publicity, raises money, and provides meals for cast, crew, and band on long show days and at Kansas State Thespian Festival.
In return, our students give back to the community whenever possible. Each Halloween, they fan out across Pittsburg to collect non-perishable food items to deliver to Wesley House as part of "Trick or Treat So Kids Can Eat." At Christmas, they are part of a caroling event at local elementary schools, and they perform a free show for area families, "Breakfast With Santa," in cooperation with Mt. Carmel Foundation. And, each year they participate in the Monarch Formal charitable event.
